Canvas & Cabernet – Floral at the LMC

Welcome! Today I wanted to share with you some details and photos from this past Thursday’s event: Canvas & Cabernet at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. I teamed up with the talented Emily Birtwell (Sommelier-in-training) and we put together quite an evening of painting, wine tasting and fun!

I want to say a BIG thank you to Chateau Wines & Spirits owner Murray Tornack for generously donating proceeds from the event to the Lacombe Arts Endowment Fund. The fund helps support artists and creative projects in Lacombe. Thank you to HT Catering for their above-and-beyond delicious cheese and meat platters! And a special thank you to all the women who came out to support the event!

Lacombe born and raised, I am so proud to have the opportunity to create an event like this in my own community! I feel so fortunate to be able to share my passion for painting, and to have so many people excited to learn, explore and engage in the local arts community.

We had a wonderful group of 18 ladies par-take, and every single painting turned out so unique and brilliant. We started the evening off sampling a great selection of local + Canadian wines with Emily, and then went right into painting. Looking for inspiration in historical and contemporary expressionism, everyone dove in and enjoyed expressively creating their own beautiful floral. The colours, layers and textures were all richly built up for a wonderful finished product. I must say, I was so impressed with all of the talent! So thank you again, to everyone who was in involved and made this night possible. ❤

Note: You can find me next at the Encore Art Sale & Celebration of Creative Expression this Friday + Saturday (April 15+16), alongside a wildly talented group of local artists, makers and musicians at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.

Thank you!
