Paint Night Out! Little Hoots Edition

Hello everyone! It’s the beginning of another busy week, so I made a point to sit outside and soak up some vitamin D this afternoon. We’ve got to enjoy that sunshine while we can! ❤

Today, I wanted to share some images and details about my recent art classes. July 7 and 14th I was able to run two really wonderful painting classes at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. I absolutely love planning and organizing my own events. It’s a lot of work, but I have so much fun doing it! The minute a class is over, I’m already scheming for the next. I was overwhelmed with all of the support and attendance! (Dreams do come true!)

I’ve worked on my Little Hoots series for more than 8 years! I couldn’t even count how many Little Hoots have made their way into so many different homes across the country. It has always been a quirky and light-hearted endeavor.  Over the past few years I have had so many people wanting to pick my brain and have a try and making their own Little Hoots. So I finally caved in, and rallied the troops!

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful ladies who came out for each class. I really have the most incredible community. I was so impressed with everyone’s enthusiasm! I am always grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for art with you all!

I think it is so important to create classes which invite learning but also playing! I love promoting flexibility, and strongly encourage each student to visualize their very own image. With some upbeat music, a glass of wine and some sweet treats, by the end of the night no two paintings are ever-alike! It’s always fascinating to watch one key-image translated into so many variations. ❤

I’ll be heading out to Ontario for a residency this fall, but I’m looking into booking more Paint Night Out classes in Lacombe at the end February – early March 2017! If you are interested in joining an upcoming class, please send me an email: dkfolkerts@hotmail.com and I will add you to my Newsletter. I hope to book some private classes, and arrange some larger Paint Night Out classes as well! Plus, let me know what you want to paint, I’m always open to suggestions and am happy to curate a class just for you!! During my residency I will be developing some more unique art classes, so stay tuned for what’s to come!!

As always, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
